What’s up on Cypress? #1

Welcome to the first “What’s up on Cypress?” series post! Need some inspiration? Wanna see what’s up on my island? You’re in the right place!

This post is about what my island looks like! Yes, with real in-game screenshots, not ones from the internet! In this post, we will cover some simple ideas for filling in little small parts of your island! Enjoy!

(1) Diner – This is a fun little activity that I whipped up after collecting parts of the diner series bit by bit. I finally realized that I could properly make a diner! I went to Nook Shopping and purchased a few more essentials for the diner set, including a diner apron!

Want to make this yourself? Here’s how:

All you need is access to the Nook Stop (or the Nook Shopping app for those older players), a few bells, and you’re set! Remember that Nook Shopping caps purchases at 5 per day, so keep that in mind. As shown in the photo, you will need at least two diner counters (I chose one of each color variation that I unlocked), two diner counter chairs for each counter, at least one diner mini table, and two diner chairs for each mini table. (Plus an apron if you want :D) It may seem like a lot to do, but if you log on every day, you can get an exact replication of my diner in just two days! (If you are interested in the food, I got it from the seasonal Nook Shopping from Dec 26-Dec 31, so time travel as necessary)

(2) Seasonal Areas – I have here a Turkey Day seasonal area (I didn’t want to occupy a room in my house so I put it outside)! It’s pretty simple, all you need is a small-large space (depending on how much seasonal stuff you have). Check mine out!

Want to make this yourself? Here’s how:

Just get all the seasonal stuff you have and throw it all together! There’s no right or wrong way to do this, so just use your imagination!

(3) Hedge Maze – I happened to have a large plot of land available on the island, so I thought, “Why not make a hedge maze?” Unfortunately, it was hard to come by inspiration, so I just threw everything I had together, and bam! A not very good hedge maze!

Want to make this yourself? Here’s how:

You will need the hedge DIY recipe, which can be randomly found in message bottles, or in balloons. Unfortunately, the experience of a hedge maze requires hedges (but if necessary, fencing should suffice). You can also throw together all the DIY recipes you have on hand and some stuff from the Nook Stop as stuff for the maze. You can also add prizes (optional), which adds an incentive to completing the maze! Make sure to gift wrap everything! (My prizes include random stuff like customization kits, wallpaper/flooring, bells, etc…) Depending on how big of a space you have, you can change the size of your hedge maze.

(4) Flower Garden – This may be the most obvious, but it’s a huge part of your island rating! When I was stuck at four stars… five different flower gardens around the island boosted me to five.

Want to make this yourself? Here’s how:

Buy a bunch of flowers from Nook’s Cranny, make some fencing, and buy some garden lanterns (optional)! Just decorate in any open space, and let the rain breed the flowers! Super easy to do.

(5) Black/Gold Rose Breeding – This one is HUGE. Not in size, in importance. You need minimal space to create this, but you can breed GOLD roses! Wowowowowowowowow! This does take a looooonnngggg time, but pays off eventually.

Want to make this yourself? Here’s how:

Gather red roses from Nook’s Cranny, and place them in an ‘every other’ formation. This is the most cost-effective and most efficient way to breed black roses. Other roses that tend to spawn include red roses and pink roses (rarely). Make sure to water every red rose every day! Shovel up the non-black roses that get in the way and sell them (or add them to another garden). Here’s how to handle a gold rose garden: Shovel up black roses, and add them to a separate garden with nothing but black roses. Again, do an ‘every other’ formation. Water them daily with a GOLD watering can (DIY obtained by getting a five star island). Gold roses take a looooonnnngggg time, so be patient!

And that’s it! Five inspiring ideas to decorate your island (with different amounts of space)! Do you have any ideas for decorating? Let me know in the comments below!
